Children's book Author and Illustrator Derrick Lee Mitchell debuts "Miyah and Koala's First Day" Just in Time for the Holidays
Miyah is excited about going to the third grade and can't wait to see all of her friends and meet her new teacher Mrs. Kelly. After dropping Miyah off at school, her father receives a phone call about a pit bull puppy in need of a home.

Derrick's journey to writing this book started out through his illustrations. He has been drawing images, pictures of his family members and friends since he was a little boy. He never thought that he could illustrate a book, even though his mother insisted that he do something with his talent.
