/Georgia News Articles/ - ATLANTA, GA, August 02, 2008 - SparkIP, an online intellectual property (IP) research and marketplace platform, today announced the addition of five new leading institutions' technologies, bringing the total to 8,350 available technologies online. SparkIP allows IP researchers, universities, government labs and corporate research centers to enhance their previous text-only searches to more robust and sophisticated contextual analysis and connects buyers and sellers of intellectual property through a true online marketplace. Today's additions to SparkIP's list of institutions include Columbia University, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Leiden University, Lehigh University and the University of Tennessee, Research Foundation.

SparkIP is the world's largest actively managed IP marketplace, with more than 8,350 available technologies from 33 leading research institutions. By combining the IP marketplace with powerful research tools, SparkIP is able to present relevant opportunities to buyers and licensees in context. SparkIP's SparkClustersTM also provide users with a snapshot of the innovation landscape, allowing them to see a broader set of relevant data and discover typically unseen results or connections that are often times missed through text-only query tools. Through SparkClustersTM, users can also easily navigate a specific area of innovation to understand the key companies, innovators and patented inventions that are driving change.

Recently, SparkIP announced the creation of two new packages/pricing programs to allow customers the appropriate level of access and support for business goals and needs. The Individual Silver subscription is designed for single users and is offered on a month to month basis. The Enterprise Gold subscription is for organizations with multiple users seeking to leverage the complete set of SparkIP advanced features. Universities and research labs are eligible for discounted pricing on enterprise subscriptions and also have the ability to post all technologies to the marketplace for free without transaction fees or other charges.

"SparkIP's mission is to be the most comprehensive source for intellectual property research," said Ed Trimble, chief executive officer of SparkIP. "We hope to be the first and only online destination for researchers and inventors. The improvements we have made during the past few months are maximizing the SparkIP user experience through the use of detailed research tools including portfolio profiling, white space analysis, competitive analysis and R&D planning. We strive to keep our users' needs top of mind and will continue making site improvements based upon feedback from our community."
